Son Shine Global Partners (SGP) facilitated a Trauma Workshop in the Palorinya Refugee Settlement in northern Uganda from July 17-21, 2018 Over350 teachers, community leaders and pastors who are refugees from South Sudan, received trauma training.
The theme of the workshop was, “Thriving Beyond Trauma, Building Resilience for the Future.” We went to the settlement with a team of psychologists from the United States. They trained the trainers to use psychodrama to address the issues of trauma that they encounter every day.
Many of the refugees who we saw were from Kajo Keji, South Sudan. They tell of the harrowing human rights abuses that caused them to leave their homes and move to Uganda. These include killings, rape and torture. Many of them saw their loved ones killed. The community started a KINDERGARTEN SCHOOL in the settlement for the very young children. The school was started in May 2018. There are currently 125 children in the school. They need our financial support.
SGP seeks to deliver transformation through skills, science, technology and innovations to communities in Africa. SGP urgently needs to raise the money for this project. The budget for this program is $12,000.
